TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley announces two more organizations to receive donations for COVID-19 relief efforts

Caledon, Ont. – TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley and the Humeniuk Foundation announced donations to William Osler Health System Foundation and Children’s Aid Foundation of Guelph and Wellington on Thursday, the latest in a series of efforts to support and highlight organizations providing COVID-19 relief services.

Totaling $75,000, the donations are the latest in a series of commitments to help generate awareness and financial support for local organizations helping those in need throughout Caledon and beyond.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has affected everyone throughout our community. Getting through these difficult times together will require a commitment to helping those in need and supporting great organizations like these who are providing essential services,” said TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley President Chris Humeniuk. “We’re grateful for the work Osler Foundation and Children’s Aid Foundation are doing and hope these donations help them achieve their goals over the coming weeks and months.”

Immediate needs supported by today’s donations, as well as the contributions each group will receive, are listed below:

William Osler Health System Foundation ($50,000): After recently surpassing an initial $1 million fundraising goal, the Osler Foundation has set out to raise an additional $1.5 million (total of $2.5 million) through its Health Care Heroes campaign, supporting health care needs to combat the pandemic.

The funds raised will help purchase critical pieces of equipment like ventilators, vein finders, vital signs monitors, stretchers and thermometers. These tools are essential to help our frontline workers in the fight against COVID-19 and to help them save lives.

“We are truly grateful for TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley and the Humeniuk family for their support of Osler’s Health Care Heroes campaign,” said Ken Mayhew, President & CEO, William Osler Health System Foundation. “Now more than ever, our community appreciates the need to rally together behind our health care workers and our hospitals. Donations, such as the one made today, help give our frontline workers the tools they will need to save lives in the fight against COVID-19. ”

Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington ($25,000): The Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington is a local organization helping local families and investing in children through four programs: Adopt-A-Family, Food & Friends, Free to Grow (formerly Free to Play) and Scholarships to build brighter futures tomorrow.

Fresh Food for Kids was launched as a temporary emergency relief fund in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The focus is to continue providing nutritious food to the children and youth who rely on food support through our Food & Friends nutrition program. We have partnered with different local organizations to create this initiative so that we can continue to bring healthy food to hungry minds.

Fresh Food for Kids has delivered over 500 baskets of food to families, children and youth in need across Dufferin, Wellington and Guelph so far. These deliveries have served over 4,000 healthy meals and snacks to the more than 350 families who have applied for support.

“Many organizations are having to find new ways to serve their communities throughout this time, the Children’s Foundation being one of them. The greatest concern that we have been faced with is the 20,000 children we serve through our in-school Food & Friends program. We felt socially responsible to go above our regular programs to ensure the children and youth of our community are supported during this time. We recognize the children we serve are at higher risk because of this situation,” said Emma Rogers, CEO of the Children’s Foundation Guelph and Wellington. “We are so grateful for community partners such as the TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley, they are a key contributor in ensuring over 500 children and youth a week are recipients of our program Fresh Food For Kids program”
